Each year, deaths due to lung cancer outrun deaths caused by colon, breast and prostate cancers combined. Low-dose CT (LDCT) screening for lung cancer has become a standard practice mostly due to the results of the National Lung Cancer Screening Trial. As a widely used screening method, it is important that the benefits and risks of LDCT in clinical practice are continuously evaluated and updated.
