BRCA-associated protein 1 (BAP1) was found to serve as a tumor suppressor gene in kidney, eye, bile duct, mesothelioma and other cancers by initiating the regulation of a form of cell death called ferroptosis. The research finding carried out by The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center opens up a potential new area if therapy research.
