National Lung Screening Trial (NLST) research report authors support their previous finding that there is 20% reduction in lung cancer mortality in high-risk current and former smokers screened annually for three years with low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) as compared to chest x-rays.
The study was published in the iJournal of Thoracic Oncology/i after an extended analysis of the patient cohort that was followed up on after the 2011 study.
